Shmuel Golima

His Memory

“For those who have nothing – give to them”

Hello, my name is Sima. I am the widow of Shmuel Golima from Sderot.
Every time I remember what happened on October 7, my heart still aches.
My Shmuel wasn’t supposed to be on duty that day.
On that day he chose to fight at the Sderot police station.

He gave his life to protect others. Only after he fell did I discover something incredible.
He had left money at the local grocery store and told the storekeeper: “For those who have nothing - give to them.”
Quietly, with dignity.
I was amazed.
During the shiva, so many people came and shared stories: How he let them off a fine.
How he helped Holocaust survivors.
At-risk youth said he cared for them and supported them.
Elderly people related how he gave them holiday gift packages so they wouldn’t be alone.
I thought all these things came from the police. I was shocked to learn he gave them from his own pocket.
Today, I am prouder than ever, and I feel he is happy that I am continuing his path.
Now, in honor of Rosh Hashanah, I am distributing food baskets to families in need -
so that every family can celebrate the holiday with a full and festive table, with dignity and joy.
I ask you to join me in this mitzvah, to help provide food baskets as a great merit for the New Year.
Please, join me now. Every donation makes a difference.
Wishing you a good and blessed year,
With gratitude,
Sima Golima
